Mt. Peak Residents Take to the Streets
A group of residents decided it was time to pick up the trash along Tower Road. Neighborhood residents traveling Tower Road were tired of seeing the litter, old tires, beer bottles and assorted trash collecting along the roadway. Mr. Richard Blackford posted several signs along Tower Road asking volunteers to meet Saturday morning (2/7/09) to help pickup trash along the road.
Approximately fifteen residents met for the trash pickup. Three of my grandchildren, Rikki Johnson, Jada Chaffee, Reaghan Johnson and I joined the group. I don’t know the total weight of trash collected, but we filled the bed of a pickup truck and a flatbed trailer with multiple huge trash bags and old tires. The city provided the bags and disposal of all trash collected.
I was able to meet some of the volunteers and collect names for this posting; Richard and Donna Blackford, Margaret Berthouzoz, Cyndi Smith, John Misemer and daughter Sophie, Bill and Anita Bird and Mike Fox. There were several I did not get a chance to meet.
I want to personally thank everyone who gave up their Saturday morning for this worthy cause, and a special thanks to Richard Blackford for organizing the cleanup. Check out our photos.
God Bless
