Pancake Breakfast at Mid-Way Regional Airport

Midlothian and Waxahachie share the Mid-Way Regional Airport.  The airport is important to both cities, and Ken Chambers feels the two cities should work together to provide proper aviation facilities.  It is this "hands across the city limits signs" attitude that is essential for our surrounding communities to work together.

On June, 6, 2009, Mid-Way Regional Airport held it's annual pancake fly-in breakfast, and Ken volunteered to help serve breakfast.  He said it was a great experience to be with the fine people at the airport and to meet so many of the guests who came for breakfast.  Many aircraft were on display, some from WW-II.

This was also a chance for elected officials from both cities to promote the airport.  There were at least four councilmen, two from each city, that attended the breakfast / aircraft display.

While Ken was busy serving food, his photographer was busy taking in the view:

Flying Saucer?  No, it's a pancake being skillfully flipped and thrown to a diner's plate.

Hon. Joe Jenkins, councilman and former mayor of Waxahachie.  His lovely wife was across the table, out of view.

The displays were enjoyed by people of all ages.

Ken salutes our veterans;  freedom isn't free.  Shown is Jim Marquis, a former U. S. Air Force pilot who later flew "heavies" commercially.  Now retired, Mr. Marquis poses in front of a somewhat smaller aircraft than he has normally flown.

The photographer wishes to apologize to the Honorable Chuck Beatty for not getting pictures of his face.  When a man has played for 3 professional football teams, a mere photographer just can't keep up with him.
